Fundraising Update

April 13, 2008

In honor of PRSSA’s 40th anniversary, we here at UH are working to complete 40 hours of community service. So far we have marched for cancer and volunteered in a Dress Drive for the Domestic Violence Action Center. Currently we are focusing on March for Babies and the Hawaii Foodbank Food Drive.

If you are feeling generous, visit our March of Dimes Team Page and make a contribution toward our fundraising efforts.

This past week we set up tables at Campus Center to raise money for the team. A huge thank you is in order for Sheryl, Brittany, Lora, Bianca, Marichris, Candi, and Mark who volunteered to man the tables. Between the two days we were able to raise more than $150.00 in donations. When you see these PRSSA members be sure to congratulate them on a job well done.

Please continue to fundraise everyone and don’t forget – the walk is Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 a.m. I hope to see everyone there!


General Meeting 3/13

Outline of our General Meeting:

1) Executive Board Elections

a. Introduced nominees for Secretary and Special Events Director

b. Voted and Winners will be announced on Friday through email

2) Relay for Life Recap

a. Congrats everyone and thank you for all of your participation!

b. Raised $2,466.00 as a team!

c. Press Release Writing Contest due by 9:00 pm, Thursday. Kelleher will judge releases and winner will be announced next week.

3) March for Babies

a. Fundraiser: $1.00 Footprints

b. Sign-up sheet for April 7, 9, 11 from 10am-2pm for group fundraiser at Campus Center.

4) 40/40 Club

a. UH Food Drive-T-shirts and Diner Club Card orders due by March 24th!

b. Relay for Life-HUGE SUCCESS!

c. Prom Dress Drive-6 dresses donated!

5) PRSSA BLOG-Pretty sure you guys figured that one out.

6) Bake Sale

a. Tuesday, April 15th from 8:30am-2:00pm on campus. Grassy area between Crawford and Hawaii Hall.

b. Sign-up sheet for work shifts. Must work one shift and please consider donating baked goods or money.

c. Press Release contest for Bake Sale announcement. Due Friday, March 21st. Winner will receive a gift card.

7) Upcoming Events

a. UH Food Stand-Friday, April 4th, 3:30-8:30 pm

b. Professional Development Workshops. Open to the public-Non-members pay $5 fee.

i) Thursday, April 10th 4:45-6:00 pm in Campus Center, Room 307 – “Resume Building/Cover Letter Tips” with Stafford Kiguchi, APR, Senior VP, Corporate Communications & Government Relations Mgr. Bank of Hawaii

ii) Tuesday, April 22nd, 4:45-6:00 in Campus Center, Room 307 – “A Class Act,” a business etiquette workshop with Gwen Fujie
