Our first service project for this semester will be on October 4, 2008. We will be participating in an event called “Light the Night Walk” sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It is an annual event to help raise money for cancer treatment services. The funds raised will be used for cancer research that will help save the lives of people with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
The event will take place at the Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park on October 4. The park will open at 6pm and registration will run from 6-7pm. The actual walk begins at 7:15pm. The walk is approximately 2 miles and should take about 30-45 minutes to complete. The park rides will then be opened for all participants at 7:45pm. Everyone will be free to ride the rides and participate in other activities after the walk is done. The park will close at midnight.
A minimum donation of $25 is asked of anyone who wishes to participate. Your donation will allow you to enter the park and participate in the walk. There are also incentives that can be earned for those who fundraise higher levels.
All money collected for the walk will need to be turned in by September 30. If you have any questions, please contact uhprssa@gmail.com or check out the site at http://www.lightthenight.org/site/c.itJZJ7MOIwE/b.836681/k.D1B7/Light_The_Night__San_DiegoHawaii__Hawaii
